Breaking News!

Now, Every Tuesday.
Unless I forget.

It’s a sad day -- Hunter S. Thompson has gone to that acid trip in the sky.

The first time fried foods have been used for international diplomacy. Unless Bush the First had some French fries on his stomach when he starting chucking on foreign leaders.

When will Republicans learn secret recordings are bad?

Bush, Schroder bury hatchet. Clinton, Linus still feuding.

Bob Marley’s ghost may finally rest -- identity of deputy killer finally revealed.

To boost iPod sales (which, by all accounts, were disappointing), Apple has lowered prices. Next? A rock of crack cocaine with every 100th download. Ha… a crack joke. How fresh and relevant.

Hm. This story makes me feel dirty and sad. And slightly aroused.

A suggestion for Thomas Van Orden: Don’t worry about fighting this monument thing. I mean, hey, I’m with you and all, but there’s a better way. Think about it -- hold a donation drive. Hit up every liberal and/or non-Christian organization you can think of. Plead to bloggers. Do your damndest to get some media attention. And use the money to fight fire with fire by commissioning your own granite statue to combat religious discrimination. List all the known world religions, with a brief explanation of the beliefs of the major ones. Then donate it, and ask if there’s any way it could be displayed near the contested statue. I would donate to the cause, and make it my mission to see others do so as well. Eh? Eh?

Oh, come on. A little torture never hurt anyone. Damn cranky Brits.

Related: On the silence of the oh-so left leaning American media.

“What do I hope for the future? Hm. An end to world hunger. World peace. And, um… not dying of AIDS.” (audible sobbing)

Too much time on your hands? Look for old people!

Israeli/Palestinian peace threatened. World stunned. Luckily, new leader not as insane as old one.

I’ve been thinking recently about the fate of the blogosphere. Sure, bloggers are a thriving and influential group right now, but most fads fade, right? What if blogs are the next Pokemon? But, today I ran across something that, to me at least, seems to indicate blogs will be around for a while -- An angry old dude trashed them. Hosanna.

Related: Further evidence blogs may be in things for the long haul -- downplay from conservative media. Slightly off topic, hoping against hope the writer of this article may have been at least center, maybe even liberal (I check these things to see if Fox has made any steps toward credibility), I checked out his blog. An excerpted excerpt:
“Here's what I believe about John Kerry. On the Patriot Act, on No Child Left Behind, on war, on gay marriage, on whatever: in every case he voted and spoke with one goal: getting elected president. For Kerry and the Democratic leadership, getting elected was more important that a thousand American lives, more important than tens of thousands of Iraqi lives, more important than the Constitution. Now of course this is more or less just the reality of American politics. But, um, it is morally monstrous. I actually admire a straight-up enthusiastic murderer more than someone who with eyes fully open endorses murder in order to further a certain set of personal ambitions. I do not believe that our sad little species offers up any more despicable choice. Kill because you believe it's the right thing to do and you may be terribly, terribly wrong. Kill because killing polls well and you're not even worth frying.”
John Kerry, I’m sure you’re aware, was once a serial killer.

The Supreme Court has ruled 5-4 against execution of juvenile criminals. This comes as a surprise to most, as the Court is infamous for its support of our current president (all the way back to his 2000 “election”). Mr. Bush, of course, is famous for his motto, “Get ‘em afore Jesus does!”

A German artist, famous for his displays of preserved human corpses, is in hiding after his father, under investigation for WWII era war crimes, leaked his plans to build a plastination factory in Poland. You can’t make this shit up.

I hate people. I purposely try to avoid buzzwords like “sheeple,” but, Jesus. I hate people. In the humble words of Maddox, “If you’re too much of an impressionable idiot to watch ‘Sideways,’ then don’t.”

And I’ll end on this: As an IM grammar nazi, this story made me smile.
