Kinsey, Abstinence, and Yet Another Humorless Entry

I don't like FoxNews.
Every leftish blogger and his/her mother/father rails against the far-right news organization, so I won't harp on that too much. But, for a good balance, I still breeze over to FoxNews.com from time to time. I can usually even find an interesting story or two. The trouble starts, though, when I click on the "Opinion" section. Today, train-wreck syndrome kicked in and whaddya' know, I found this.
Now, I'm not defending Kinsey here. I know nothing about the guy's personal life, so he could have been a horrible, horrible man for all I know. I do know, though, that the article focused on a single fact -- Kinsey's studies of childhood sexuality (which, again, I'm not even trying to defend -- inducing orgasm in a two month old is absofuckinglutely revolting). While this is, to say the least, a disturbing fact, using it to downplay some of Kinsey's better achievements is just stupid.
Then I looked at who wrote the article. Or, rather, who she works for. Melissa Pardue works for the Heritage Foundation. An article I found sticking out on the front page of the Foundation's website: "Parents Beware!"
Now, let's make this perfectly clear. Listen close. Abstinence only programs do not work. Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away.
Anyhow. Kinsey may or may not have been a good man. That's irrelevant. He worked most of his life to open up a discussion about sexuality -- and, as we saw in the last six links, he may have been on to something.

Engine -- It's true, but I can still bitch about it. It's my duty as an American.
